Obstetrics for EMS
About OB for EMS
Obstetrics for EMS was first Imagined back in 2015 during an eye-opening independent study course at the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.
During this course, I set out to learn about all of the obstetrical issues I could legitimately be called for yet never got trained on in Paramedic school. Shockingly, there was quite a long list of life-threatening issues that were either never covered or quickly glossed over.

Additionally, to educate myself properly on these issues, I had to travel all over my home state of Texas and to Las Vegas, Nevada. There was no centralized Obstetrics course that can realistically and comprehensively train EMS. Until Now
This course was created after years of study in prehospital birth, Training as a Doula, Childbirth Educator and as a Midwifery Student. This of course was undertaken while working full time as a Paramedic. Being able to have feet in both different yet similar worlds has allowed me to put together a course based on Midwifery care principles yet firmly grounded in EMS.
Simply put, Obstetrics for EMS is the course I wish I would have had during school.
