Course Description: Obstetrics for EMS is one of the first and only comprehensive obstetric care courses designed specifically for prehospital professionals. This course was designed by a critical care Paramedic turned Birth Doula and Midwifery Student to educate prehospital professionals on the myriad of issues both routine and emergent that they could realistically encounter but received minimal or no training on while going through school.

 

Through dynamic PowerPoints and hands-on training utilizing real actors, students will learn how to manage medical and traumatic complications of pregnancy, routine and complicated childbirth, and routine and emergent issues of the postpartum period.

Course Audience: anyone who could transport a pregnant person, and particularly useful for providers routinely doing obstetric transport

 

Course Length: 16 hours/2 days

Course Cost: $ 400.00/student*

* Cost Note: Cost per student can be adjusted if it is deemed cost prohibitive, a guaranteed minimum of 10 students, or in consultation with the course director. No student who desires to learn these skills will be turned away simply because of monetary need.
